About Us
About Uxbridge Lions Club
The Uxbridge and District Lions Club was chartered in April 1974 and is part of the world-wide Lions Clubs international. We celebrated 50 years of service in our community in 2024.
Our club is made of dedicated men and women who meet regularly to spend time to work on projects that help members of our community, our region, our province, our country and around the world.
Uxbridge Lions Club is a non-profit organization that serves the Uxbridge community by raising funds to give back to the community by donating to several non-profit and charitable organizations.
Since our charter in 1974, Uxbridge Lions Club has hosted numerous community fundraisers, cooked and served food at literally hundreds of community events and provided hands on service to many local individuals, families and organizations. Our programs vary and are continually changing to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission has never changed from living up to the Lions Clubs International motto: "We Serve".

About Lions Clubs International
Lions Clubs International was established in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois by a gentleman named Melvin Jones. The headquarters is currently in Oak Brook, Illinois. Mr. Jones believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large. For a concise history of Lions Clubs International, click here.
There are currently 50,000 clubs world-wide with 1.4 million Lions Club members in over 200 countries. This makes Lions Clubs International the largest volunteer organization in the world. In 1945, Lions Clubs International was invited by the United Nations to draft the United Nations Charter in San Francisco, California and has supported the work of the United Nations ever since then.
The objective of each Lions Club is to serve the community - neighbour helping neighbour. It did not take long before this simple, yet broad ideal spread throughout the world.
The first Lions Club in Canada was chartered in Windsor, Ontario in 1920 and clubs across Canada have chartered since then. Currently there are 1,390 clubs with over 33,000 club members in Canada.

Uxbridge Lions Club Causes
Much of the focus of Lions Clubs International work as a service club organization is to raise money for worthy causes. All funds raised by Lions Clubs from the general public are used for charitable purposes, and administrative costs are kept strictly separate and paid for by members. In Uxbridge, the money raised for a club's charity account goes toward projects that benefit local non-profit and charitable organizations.
